
I have been a member of the Scottish National Party since 1966 and have held a variety of posts in my local branch and constituency. I am an experienced management coach and mentoring and have held a number of Non-Executive Director posts in the public and private sectors.
Prior to setting up my own consultancy, I was the Scottish Director of the Work Foundation (formerly The Industrial Society).
In February 2009, I was appointed Chairman of The Scottish Qualifications Authority (SQA).
In October 2012, I was appointed as a Board Member to the first Scottish Police Authority.
I am married with two grown-up children and have lived in Dunblane since 1985.
Leisure interests (time permitting) include golf, gardening and reading. I am a member of Rotary and an elder in the Church of Scotland.
