A huge thanks to all the people in the Stirling area who are offering support and solidarity for the people of Ukraine.

The Council is holding regular drop-in sessions with Ukrainian families/individuals. Council staff will be available at these sessions to give advice and information on how to access a range of local services. These include:

  • How to register for benefits, English language and other adult learning classes.
  • Registering for school places, doctors and dentists, library cards.
  • Employment advice.
  • Help with other things Ukrainian people may like to learn and do during their time in Stirling.

If you are worried about your hosting arrangement or if you need any other help or advice, these events are an opportunity to speak to Council resettlement staff.

The Council can also meet with any Sponsors before the Ukrainian people arrive, to discuss the available supports.

Stirling Council has received enquiries about how people can support Ukraine and those impacted by the conflict.  As the situation is still very unclear and the needs of those fleeing have yet to be established, we would recommend making donations to organisations already working on the borders to provide support to people.

As the situation develops and the needs of people become more apparent support needs may change and aid agencies are better placed to respond to this. Several charities have launched appeals to help people in Ukraine. You can find out more and donate by following the links below.

We have been advised that uncoordinated deliveries of second hand goods risk adding to the pressures on the roads around the borders, hampering the delivery of resources needed by aid agencies and locals such as fuel and accommodation, and leaving local suppliers out of the supply chain.

We strongly recommend that groups direct aid via one of the existing charities that are arranging deliveries and aid nationally. These are listed below:

If you are a business considering making offers of employment to people coming to the UK from Ukraine, please have a look at this UK Government guidance.
